China-Tibet

Unit 4: The China-Tibet Conflict
Attached is a draft of the China/Tibet conflict.  Please be aware that it is still very much a work in progress.  I hope it is not too confusing to read. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Basically it is broken up into a few sections:
1. An overview of essential questions, content students should know, and skills they should enhance / develop. Also, a quick summary of assessments.

2. A weekly outline of the unit.  Some parts are more complete than others and not all the readings are there.  However, I hope this gives you an idea of the direction I am going.  I assumed that much of this would change drastically based on our upcoming meetings and how the year progresses.  Thus, I have included topics, questions, and materials but not specific activites for each class.  Already, I think that too much information is crammed in.  Although the unit is seven weeks, I was not sure how much time we wanted to use for the major comparative essay.  I saved a few days at the end of the unit, but I think we might need even more time to work on the essay.  Just so you know, where applicable, I incorporated ideas from the old HHC curriculum Justin sent me this spring. I hope you all dont mind. There were some good ideas!

3. A detailed list of major assessments.  Again, I have included all of them but assume some will have to go.  I include the mini comparative essays in this section to help students get used to this type of writing and prepare them for the major paper at the end of the unit.

4.  Helpful resources.  Much of these I used for my own background information on the topic and some for the actual student readings.  I have quite a few of them, so please let me know if you would like to borrow any of them.
